The Monsoon Palace, also known as the Sajjan Garh Palace, is a hilltop palatial residence in the city of Udaipur. It is named after Maharana Sajjan Singh, who ruled from 1874 until his early death in 1884. He was a member of the Mewar Dynasty. The palace offers most impressive panoramic views of Udaipur’s lakes, palaces and surrounding countryside. It is said that it was built chiefly to watch the monsoon clouds; hence it is popularly known as Monsoon Palace. The views from the palace alone are worth the excursion.

You will get picked up from your hotel in the city center. Accompanied by your guide, drive to Monsoon Palace. Named after Maharana Sajjan Singh, the Monsoon Palace is also known as Sajjan Garh Palace. Built on a hill top, the Monsoon Palace offers fantastic views of Udaipur, which had risen to prominence under the rule of Maharana Sajjan Singh. The palace was planned to be a nine-storied astronomical observatory which would record the arrival of monsoons by keeping track of the monsoon clouds. Unfortunately due to the untimely death of Maharana Sajjan Singh, the plan of construction was shifted over to his successor Maharana Fateh Singh, who also constructed a lake which he named Fateh Sagar Lake. Enjoy the palace, its unique location and views. After you have completed your visit, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. (lunch included). Following, you will be driven back to your hotel within city center.
