Immerse yourself in the rich history of medieval Delhi as you stroll through the Humayun Tomb complex.  On this two hour tour, your historian guide will take you through the garden complex where you will gain an understanding about the style of architecture and also marvel at the various architectural illusions used in its construction. Through this, you will learn the culture that prevailed in those days and the significance of the influence of this monument on Delhi. Investigate the garden complex and see the authentic structures including Bu Hamida's tomb, Afsarwala tomb and a royal barber’s tomb. Humayun’s Tomb is a sublime structure made of red sandstone and was the inspiration for the Taj Mahal.

    Humayun's Tomb

    You will be picked up from your hotel in a private air conditioned vehicle, met by your guide and driven to Humayun’s Tomb. This two-hour walk begins at 8:00 am. Humayun was the second emperor in the Mughal Empire.  This was the first time in India that they used red sandstone on a substantial scale as well as a double dome used in the building design.  It was a forerunner to the Taj Mahal. . The tomb also houses the graves of Bega Begum, Hamida Begum and his great, great grandson, Dara Shikoh. Various little tombs line the stroll to the grand mausoleum, including the tomb belonging to Isa Khan, an Afghan commander. This tomb is a fine case of the Pathan design with its octagonal shape and utilization of coated tiles. As you stroll around the complex,  your guide will connect your visual experience and the stories shared. This walking tour will take you back to the Mughal period. At the end of your tour, you will be driven back to your hotel in New Delhi.
