    Gandhi Smriti

    You will be picked up from your hotel and driven to Gandhi Smriti, the house where Gandhi spent the last few days of his life. It is here that Gandhi was assassinated when he came out for evening prayers. The ‘Martyr’s Column’ marks the spot where Gandhi was killed. The house has now been converted into a museum and contains a number of articles associated with Gandhi.

    From there drive over to the Gandhi Memorial at Raj Ghat. Situated on the banks of the River Yamuna, it is here that Gandhi was cremated in 1948. A black marble platform marks the site of his cremation. Set amidst lush green lawns, the Memorial is regularly visited by foreign dignitaries and Heads of State when they visit India. Several trees of the beautiful park have been planted by notables like Queen Elizabeth II, President Eisenhower, Ho Chi Minh and various others.

    Your next and last stop is the National Gandhi Museum which has a rich collection of books, diaries and records, photos, sound and video records related with Mahatma Gandhi. Spend some time looking at this historic collection and learn more about the life and times of Gandhi. After the visit to the museum, stop for lunch (own expense) at a local restaurant. After lunch you will be dropped back at your hotel.
