The Rann of Kutch is a salt marsh located in the West Indian state of Gujarat. It is divided into two regions, Great Rann of Kutch and Little Rann of Kutch, which together constitute the world’s largest salt marsh that is spread over an area of 10 000 square miles. It is home to the endangered species of the Indian Wild Ass and other animals like blackbucks, wolves, foxes, nilgai antelopes and gazelles. On this overnight trip from Ahmedabad, experience the unique landscape of this vast expanse of white where the only sound that you will hear is the sound of silence.
Located in the Little Rann of Kutch is the Indian Wild Ass Sanctuary, home of the last remaining population of the chestnut-coloured Indian wild ass (khur). This barren, salt-tinted land is nature at its harshest and most compelling.
