Visit the iconic Akshardham Temple situated in Gandhinagar, a short drive from the city of Ahmedabad. Next visit some of the major sites of Ahmedabad - the Shaking Minarets of the Sidi Bashir Mosque, the 16th century Sidi Saiyyed Mosque, the Ashram of Mahatma Gandhi situated on the banks of the River Sabarmati and the Hutheesing Jain Temple. There is also a choice between two museums - the Veechar Utensil Museum or the Kite Museum. End the tour with a walk on the banks of the River Sabarmati.

    Check out from your hotel after an early breakfast and drive to the city of Gandhinagar, 16 miles from Ahmedabad. Visit the beautiful Akshardham Temple that was built in 1992. Built on Vedic architectural principles, no steel or iron was used in the construction of this temple. Made of pink sandstone, the walls of the temple are beautifully carved. There are over 250 sculptures of Gods and Saints within the temple.

    Visit the remains of the 15th century Sidi Bashir Mosque. Only the central gateway and two minarets of the mosque survive. The Shaking Minarets are an architectural wonder. When one minaret is gently shaken, the other starts to vibrate.

    Next visit the 16th century mosque of Sidi Saiyyed that is famous for its delicate lattice-work windows. The mosque is a symbol of the time when Gujarat prospered under Muslim rulers. Built in the Indo-Islamic style of architecture, the minarets and arched windows make it a photographer’s delight.

    The museum is known for its collection of utensils over the ages. It is the only museum of its kind in the world. The extensive collection features utensils from over a thousand years ago. The display shows the evolution of utensils with our changing needs and environment. The range varies from leaves and jugs made from gourds to utensils in brass, copper, bronze, zinc and German silver.

    Gujarat is known for its kite festival and the art of making kites. The Kite Museum is situated inside the iconic Sankar Kendra building that was designed by the French architect, Le Corbusier. On display are over 125 rare and uniquely designed kites that showcase the history of kite making in Gujarat.

    Sabarmati Ashram was Mahatma Gandhi’s retreat and the center of India's freedom movement. The ashram was home to Gandhi from 1917 to 1930. It is here that he carried out his experiments in farming, animal husbandry and Khadi (a hand-woven textile made popular by Gandhi). You can see the cottage where Gandhi lived. The ashram also has a museum with a paintings gallery

    The Hutheesing Jain temple was built in 1848 when Gujarat was reeling under a severe famine. The construction of the temple provided a source of livelihood for hundreds of skilled artisans. The temple has two stories with an exquisitely designed dome shaped top.

    Also take a walk on the beautifully landscaped Promenade on the banks of the River Sabarmati. At the end of the tour you will be dropped off at the airport for your onward flight. Onward flights departing from Ahmedabad must be after 7:00 p.m. Kindly Note : Hotel check out time 1200 Hours
