Jaipur is a planned city built in 1727 by Sawai Jai Singh, the Hindu Rajput ruler of the kingdom of Amber, later Jaipur. Visit Hawa Mahal, also known as the "Palace of Winds". It was built in 1799 as an extension to the Royal City Palace of Jaipur. It allowed the royal ladies, who at the time strictly observed “pardah”, to be able to watch any processions and activities on the street without being seen by the public.
Continue on to City Palace, with its latticed balconies, tiny windows, cupolas, courtyards and arched entrances.
A stop will be made at the UNESCO World Heritage Site - the Jantar Mantar. It is an astronomical observation site built in the early 18th century. Designed for the observation of astronomical positions with the naked eye, they embody several architectural and instrumental innovations.
