This morning - nice and early - you will be transferred from your hotel to the airport for your flight to Maroantsetra. As you arrive at Maroantsetra airport our staff will meet you and transfer you via private boat to Nosy Mangabe just in time for a picnic on the beach! Next - another boat trip! We will head across Antongil Bay for approximately 2 hours to the incredible Masoala Forest Lodge. En route there is definitely no shortage of scenery with the lush rainforest as a backdrop. Keep your eye out for dolphins, and even whales depending on the season! As you arrive at the lodge you will settle into your bungalow and head does to enjoy a nice fire on the beach. Should you prefer a bit more adventure this evening you can depart with a guide for a evening stroll to visit some of the nocturnal creatures of the forest. Examples of what is possible to see (although of course not guaranteed) are sleeping birds, mouse lemurs, white-fronted brown lemurs, woolly lemurs, sportive lemurs, leaf-tailed geckos, chameleons, and Aye-aye (if very, very lucky).

A day full of beautiful nature and great experiences! Once you have enjoyed a scenic breakfast from the sea deck this morning you will depart to explore the Mangroves River by kayak. The river itself provides a navigational adventure as you maneuver your kayak between rocks, half-submerged trees, and a plethora of other flora. This afternoon you will return back to camp for a hard-earned lunch and rest for the next adventure of exploring the coast! Activities this afternoon could range from snorkeling on the nearby, highly diverse coral reefs to a sunset paddle out to a scenic outlook - with a chance to spot some turtles, to relaxing in a hammock underneath our beach-front palm trees.

There are many options for you to explore today - once you have enjoyed your coffee and breakfast of course! Today your activities will be snorkelling, beach lounging, swimming, exploring, village visit, fording rivers and easy walking. Travel by boat to Saholaina-a beautiful beach with coral rich waters great for snorkeling or swimming. From here we will make our way down the Antalaviana River, a river that cascades down from the densely forested hills above. You can swim in the crystal-clear water at the foot of the falls and sunbathe on a rock. Once you have finished your lunch picnic on the beach, you will head back to the lodge on foot (about 3 hours). En route you will ford rivers, explore the village of Marofototra and surrounding plantations where the locals grow vanilla, cloves, pineapple, cinnamon, and pepper. You will also see the remnants of a colonial railway and learn much about the history of the region. Dinner this evening will allow you to enjoy the views with a private table on the sea deck.
