During the months of July-November, the southern hemisphere population of humpback whales commences their winter migration with a portion of the population choosing the islands of French Polynesia as their destination. French Polynesia remains one of the few locations in the world where we are able to enter the water with humpback whales to observe them directly. Our priority lies both to guest safety and to respect of all wildlife we encounter during our tours. We will only enter the water with humpback whales after the biologist on board has observed their surface activity and deemed it safe and non-invasive for both the guests and the whales.

Allowing the whales to continue their natural behavior, mating rituals, and migrational movements is vital for a healthy marine environment.

What to expect

Join this wildlife excursion to learn about, observe, and snorkel with humpback whales, dolphins, and oceanic sharks. The primary focus of this experience is to observe humpback whales during their annual migration to Moorea where they give birth and reproduce. *** THIS ACTIVITY IS ONLY OFFERED JULY 20 - NOV 20. It is against regulation to swim with the whales outside of the designated period*** Our tour is limited to small group size of 8 guests maximum to ensure a more intimate experience with the humpback whales. You can experience various observations of humpback whale encounters; mom and calf, heat runs, singing whales, sleeping whales, playing whales, and interspecies interactions. You can also experience interactions with cetaceans including spinner dolphins, rough toothed dolphins, beaked whales, pilot whales and
pelagic shark species such as silky sharks or oceanic whitetip sharks. French Polynesia remains one of the few locations in the world where we are able to enter the water with humpback whales to observe them directly.
