Tunnels and Mystery, an enchanting place where poetry, history, and architecture meet. The city's most important archaeological site.
A mystery sealed for over a hundred years. Beneath a carefully restored early 19th-century mansion lies a labyrinth of tunnels with brick vaults. This unique tour invites you to descend to the foundations of Buenos Aires: among archaeological remains and silent ruins, discover the best-kept secrets of Buenos Aires's past.
In 1980s, the current owner of the site made an inadvertent archaeological discovery while attempting to restore this Italian-style house, whose façade and patios date back to the first half of the 19th century. As a result of the excavations, the remains of tunnels that once channeled the Zanjón de Granados, cisterns, water tanks, utensils, containers, and remains of buildings from 1700, 1740, and 1830 were recovered beneath the mansion and adjacent buildings.
