Pick-up from the selected hotels within the Split city area. A walking tour of Split, boasting a 17-century long history, will cover the city's most important historic sights. The historic core of Split, its stunning Diocletian’s Palace, was originally built as the Roman Emperor’s retirement venue at the turn of the 4th century AD. But, when the Slavs ransacked Roman Salona in the 7th century, the entire town fled to the palace, setting foundation for the wondrous city Split is today. Flourishing, creative, and with a distinct Dalmatian spirit, the heart of Split enthralls with sites like its Peristyle, the Golden and Silver Gates, the Cathedral and Jupiter’s Temple.
