A first-rate adventure in our favorite 1,100 square mile national treasure – spend time on foot in our favorite places in Olympic National Park! Our team built this tour to reconnect with natural silence in powerful landscapes; Olympic National Park is recognized as likely the quietest place remaining in North America. We’re out to pursue the tranquility that has been part of how humans have experienced the world for millennia – as we believe silence is being rapidly eradicated in our modern age.
For three refreshing days, leave behind the bustle of the city to unwind in the beauty of Olympic National Park's pristine beaches, rivers, forests, and mountains. Follow in the footsteps of Roosevelt elk and black tail deer, discover tumbling waterfalls that feed into the crystalline Hoh River, decompress under a canopy of green as moss-draped Big-Leaf Maples spread upwards overhead.
This tour is all-inclusive, we'll take care of the details.
We'll pick you up where you're staying in Downtown Seattle including any hotel, Airbnb, hostels, and the port. If you are staying outside our legal downtown pick-up zone, we are happy to meet you at our default pick up location—The Sheraton Grand Hotel. We offer pick-up on Bainbridge Island or in Port Angeles upon request.
We will call/text/email the afternoon of day prior to your tour to confirm your pick-up location and exact pick-up time. No need to check-in before we contact you (unless you have a question, of course!).
This is our default meeting location for guests who are staying outside of our Downtown Seattle pick up zone.
Leave Seattle and journey to the southern end of Olympic National Park and Lake Quinault. Explore some of the largest trees in the world as you wander through the old-growth rainforests surrounding the lake, and soak in the serenity that's already such a change from the bustle of the city only a few hours distant.
Continue towards the coast, and watch how the giant trees become shorter and gnarled as you approach the wind-whipped beaches of Olympic National Park. Take a walk along the coastline and keep your eye out for interesting seashells among the driftwood. Dinner will be beachside with a campfire before an early night to prepare for tomorrow's adventures.
We delve into the Hoh Rainforest to experience what is likely the quietest place in North America. By engaging the world through sound and taking time to truly listen, we give the forest a whole new life and maybe even find some deeper truths that extend beyond the edge of the trees. Once you dive into the intricate beauty of this ecosystem, you’ll never see the forest quite the same. Our relaxed pace allows us to move a few miles into the park, soaking in the subtle details of this place, the story it tells us, learn a little about the language of the birds, and even step into an ancient time when our presence in the forest was guided by a need to hear but not be heard.
We'll make a stop at on of the most beautiful parts of the Olympic Peninsula - Ruby Beach. Take another beachside stroll to investigate the tide pools and see what creatures reside in these ever-changing waters. Plus, this is one of those places where it is impossible to take a bad picture.
Back to Kalaloch Lodge for tonight, and another night amongst the stars and waves on the coast.
We head north from the beaches of the Western side of the Olympic Peninsula back into the alpine forests of towering trees as we near Lake Crescent. This massive, glacially carved lake is a our next stop, where we'll stretch our legs on the way to a secret waterfall.
After lunch, we'll climb into the mountains, and up to famed Hurricane Ridge. We'll walk up Hurricane Hill to the literal high-point of your tour. Surrounded by alpine meadows and gorgeous vistas of the Olympics and the Sound, it can be difficult to look closer at hand to search for the black-tailed deer and Olympic marmots that live along the ridge.
We'll descend from Hurricane Ridge and make our way back to the city via van and a short ferry ride. You'll be granted an amazing skyline view of Seattle as you return across the Sound.
