One of the best times of year to visit Mount Rainier is in the winter months. When the days get shorter, the summer crowds head home, and the park turns into a true winter wonderland, come visit Longmire in Mount Rainier National Park!
Stroll through the old-growth forests, where Douglas fir, hemlock, and cedar trees dwarf visitors. The bubbling natural springs tell a story of what lies beneath this abundant and volatile landscape. Experience the natural silence that takes hold as the snow dusted trees insulate the world around you. Learn the diverse history the Longmire area and how this region has attracted visitors long before it was a national park.
After arriving at Mt. Rainier, you will get out to experience as much of the Longmire area as possible for the day. Explore beyond the vehicle during walks and hikes with your guide by your side the entire time. If conditions call for snowshoes, your guide will provide an introductory lesson on how to stay safe and enjoy your walk.
We'll pick you up where you're staying in Downtown Seattle including hotels and rentals! If you are staying outside our legal pick up zone, we are happy to meet you at our default pick up location—Sheraton Grand (1400 6th Ave). If you're unsure whether your hotel or rental is part of the downtown corridor, give us a call and we can confirm whether your hotel is included! We also make quick stops near SeaTac Airport or Tacoma when requested. If you will be driving and would like a convenient parking option, you can park at our office in Sodo (Seattle) near the stadiums instead. Please let our team know if you will be needing one of these options at least 48 hours before your tour. We will call/text/email the afternoon of the day prior to your tour to confirm your pick-up location and exact pick-up time. No need to check-in before we contact you (unless you have a question, of course!).
This is our default meeting location for guests staying outside of our Downtown Seattle pick up area.
Hotel pickups take place in downtown Seattle between 8:00-8:30am
After the drive from Seattle, stop for a short rest near Ashford, WA. We will bring light breakfast pastries, local coffee, and tea to enjoy at our first restroom break along the drive
Views of Mt Rainier's peak are visible from various areas in the park.
