At Bank Junction, we stand at the heart of the world’s financial centre. From this prime location, we observe the Royal Exchange, Bank of England, Mansion House, and the Monument, exploring 1,000 years of the City of London’s financial history, from medieval livery companies to modern banking giants. This stop encapsulates the city’s long-standing relationship with commerce and trade.
Our optional trip to Bankside includes a brief stop at Borough Market to savour its vibrant food scene. We will stroll down Clink Street, walk by the historic Globe Theatre, and admire contemporary art at Tate Modern. Finally, we’ll cross the iconic Millennium Bridge, enjoying stunning views of the Thames and the city skyline. This area is rich in history, from the Elizabethan era to the present day.
Join me for an exhilarating visit to the Guildhall Art Gallery, where we will explore its stunning masterpieces. The highlight of our visit will be the Roman amphitheatre hidden below, offering a unique glimpse into ancient history. Next, we study the magnificent St Paul’s Cathedral from the outside, spending about 15 minutes delving into the history of the Great Fire of London and appreciating Sir Christopher Wren’s stunning architecture. Our next stop is St Bride’s Church, where we’ll spend about 20 minutes exploring its fantastic crypt and studying the beautiful interior. If the church is closed due to varying opening hours, we’ll visit another Wren church nearby. This stop provides a fascinating insight into Wren’s architectural brilliance and the church’s historical significance.
We then take a 45 minute walk down Fleet Street, delving in and out of the courtyards and alleys, and into the rich history of British media. Along the way, we’ll see the exterior of Dr Samuel Johnson’s house, a prime example of Georgian architecture. This walk offers a fascinating glimpse into London’s literary and architectural heritage, reflecting the city’s vibrant intellectual history.
Next, we head to Covent Garden for a lunch break, spending about an hour enjoying the vibrant atmosphere, exploring the array of dining options, and soaking in the lively street performances. We’ll dine in a traditional British pub, offering a perfect blend of relaxation and entertainment in one of London’s most iconic areas.
Next, we’ll spend about 30 minutes exploring Westminster. Our tour will cover the bustling streets of Soho, the historic Trafalgar Square, the iconic Whitehall, and the ceremonial Horse Guards Parade. We’ll also see the majestic Houses of Parliament, the stunning Westminster Abbey, and the grand Buckingham Palace. This whirlwind tour will give you a rich overview of some of London’s most famous landmarks and their historical and cultural significance.
We will then spend 2 hours in South Kensington, starting with a visit to the iconic Harrods. We’ll delve into captivating royal stories as we explore the Museums District, including the Natural History Museum and the Science Museum. We’ll then admire the Albert Memorial and visit Kensington Palace and Diana’s Gardens. This part of the tour offers a blend of luxury, history, and cultural insights in one of London’s most elegant neighbourhoods.
