Unlike a simple rough demonstration, this workshop gives you the opportunity to practice basic Moroccan carpet-weaving techniques yourself. You will learn about the wool, tools, symbols, and stages involved in creating a handmade rug while exchanging directly with local hosts. It offers an honest and practical introduction to a craft that normally requires many days or weeks to master.

Meeting and pickup
Please proceed to the main entrance of the Medina Mall. At the entrance, look for our security guard. Present your reservation ticket to the security officer to be directed to the meeting point.
What to expect
Begin with a traditional Moroccan tea ceremony and learn about the importance of tea in Moroccan hospitality.
Next, explore the history and cultural significance of Moroccan rugs. Discover how their colors, motifs, and symbols can reflect regional traditions, local identity, and the stories of the artisans who create them.
Learn about the main stages of rug-making, from preparing and coloring the wool to setting up the loom and weaving the threads. With guidance from a local host, practice basic carpet-weaving techniques and gain a better understanding of the patience and skill required to produce a handmade Moroccan rug.
Because creating a complete carpet requires considerably more time, this 2-hour workshop focuses on learning and practicing the technique. Participants do not complete or take home a finished rug.
Finish the experience with cultural exchanges, a participation certificate, and a group photo to remember your workshop.
