This private tour highlights the cultural and natural beauty of Central Maui, starting with sight-seeing and shopping in charming Wailuku Town. From there, the journey moves into ʻĪao Valley State Park, where you can view the ʻĪao Needle, explore the ethnobotanical gardens, and swim in the Wailuku River. Meeting and pickup
For our guests staying on Maui who are already planning on renting a car, we strongly recommend meeting your guide at the Maui Tropical Plantation-cutting down on highway time means more time making stops on the informative portion of your tour! Of course, we would be happy to pickup directly from your lodgings as well. For guests arriving on a cruise ship, we ask that you meet your guide at a location a short distance from the harbor (~15 min walking). Drop off is simpler- we can bring you to a designated area right alongside the vessel within the harbor!
The Maui Tropical Plantation a cafe, multiple gift shops with local vendors, beautiful gardens & water features, and a terrific restaurant- Cafe O'Lei. Check it our after your tour concludes to save an additional trip to Waikapu!

Discover the charm of historic Wailuku Town! Our first stop of the day will give you an opportunity to visit Wailuku Coffee Company, the local gathering spot with fantastic brews. Enjoy a cold-press juice from Maui Juice Co., whose fresh ingredients are sourced locally. Market Street is full of fun antique stores, shopping opportunities, and historical points of interest.

2Iao Valley State Monument
ʻĪao Valley State Park is a marvelously lush river valley featuring Kuka‘emoku, often called the ʻĪao Needle. Soak in panoramic valley views from multiple scenic overlooks, learn about taro cultivation and other tropical plants in an ethnobotanical garden, and have the chance to take a dip in one of the pleasant pools fed by the Wailuku River!

3Kepaniwai Park & Heritage Gardens
Enjoy a relaxing walk through this beautiful set of gardens showcasing the influence of the cultures that have made Hawaiʻi their home. Each garden has unique design elements including pavilions and pagodas, and are lovingly cared for by members of the community. There is another opportunity for a refreshing swim here as well.

Explore the hidden gem of Waihe‘e Beach Park. A short distance from the Waihe‘e Coastal Dunes and Wetlands Refuge, where one of the oldest settlements on Maui once thrived. The Waihe‘e Coastal Dunes and Wetlands Refuge is a historically significant area that is being revitalized with a traditional fish pond and native plants. The beach park is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a quiet moment to yourself!
