Brewmaster's Brussels Beers and Taverns

3 hours (approximately)
Offered in: German and 6 more

I’m a Master Cicerone (1 of 29 in the world), a former Brewmaster, a Certified Sommelier and an experienced operator of fun, educational, 5-star beer experiences. I’m based in Montana, USA, and since 2017, I’ve led tours of my favorite beer spots in Belgium & Germany.

A perfect experience for anyone who likes beer and culture, regardless of whether you're already a Belgian beer lover or just curious to taste why Belgian beer is so special.

You'll taste many different beers plus classic Brussels food, sample different barley malts, and learn tasting tips, beer science & history while soaking in the sights of beautiful, beery Brussels!

Though my Brussels beer tour is new on Viator & TripAdvisor, check out my **all-5-star** reviews of my Montana beer tour: https://www.viator.com/tours/Bozeman/Bozeman-Brewery-Hop/d22771-5496002P1

The tour is in English (but I can speak a little German and French), and I offer written guides to Belgian beer in Spanish, French, Dutch, Italian and German.

    Grand Place

Our beer tour starts at the Grand-Place, Brussels' stunning central square lined by Gothic and Renaissance-style buildings dedicated to the city's historic merchant and trade guilds. Among them is the Brewers' House, which Rich will point out and briefly discuss. (We'll skip the brewing museum there, and instead head straight to our first beer café to learn history through a glass of beer!)

We'll walk 5 minutes to Poechenellekelder, an amazing beer cafe with quirky Brussels charm. Rich will guide the group through a tasting of several essential Belgian beer styles, and you'll also share a classic Brussels snack like a Croque Monsieur or a meat, cheese and bread board. (On certain days when Poechenellekelder is closed, we'll visit a special, alternate tavern.)

After a 5-minute stroll, Rich will invite you into this cozy den of beer and civic culture. It's long been a gathering place for artistic, literary, and politically-minded Brusselers (including Rene and Georgette Magritte, a century ago). With Rich's help, you'll choose a beer from La Fleur's menu of less-commercialized beers that offer a taste of classic Brussels beer flavor.

Rich will lead the group on a 10-minute walk through grand arcades and medieval alleys of Brussels, and will welcome you to his favorite Belle Époque-era beer hall for excellent beer, a delicious dessert, and leisurely people-watching. You'll select from the menu of 60 beers (apply your new beer knowledge, or else Rich can help you choose), and enjoy a savory snack or finish sweet with Belgian chocolate mousse or tiramisu. Afterward, we'll walk 10 minutes back to the starting point at the Grand-Place. (On certain days when A la Mort Subite is closed, we'll visit a special, alternate tavern.)
