We take a minibus to the wilderness village of Lompolo, where light pollution and noise are left far behind. In the complete darkness and silence, the Northern Lights are at their most impressive. We head to Soma Hideout to a cosy hut/glass roof kota to wait for the Northern Lights. There we enjoy roasting sausages and warming up with hot chocolate. You can also take a snowshoe walk on the ice lake with light of hand lanterns if you like to.

You can never be sure when the northern lights will rise, but it's always worth hoping. The wide view north from the lake makes it a great place to see the northern lights. The hut is nice place to warm up while you wait.

What to expect

Step into the winter wonderland of Lapland on this unforgettable adventure, starting conveniently at your doorstep. After 9 p.m, we’ll pick you up from your holiday accommodation and head north, 35 kilometers into the remote wilderness to the charming village of Lompolo. Far from city lights, this pristine location offers the perfect conditions for spotting the northern lights, as the skies here are almost always clear and free from any light pollution.

Upon arrival, you’ll find yourself in a traditional reindeer herding village, where the Soma Hide Out Wilderness Cabin await. Situated right by a serene wilderness lake, this spot offers one of the most breathtaking views imaginable. You’ll have the chance to walk on the frozen lake—whether in your winter boots or with snowshoes for an extra thrill—and fully immerse yourself in the peaceful silence, gazing up at the endless stars above.

Inside hut, a cozy fire keeps us warm as we roast sausages, toast marshmallows, and enjoy hot berry juice together. Our local guide will share fascinating stories about Lapland’s life, giving you a deeper understanding of the North and its wonders.
