It begins at the Golden Museum Hotel, accessing underground remains with a Roman domus (2nd–3rd centuries AD) and the only complete mosaic preserved in Lisbon. Continue to the Se of Lisbon, a Romanesque-Gothic cathedral with treasure and views of the Tagus.
Visit Lisbon’s Roman Theatre to learn about Roman cultural life and the Casa dos Bicos, which includes Roman, Islamic and medieval walls. Its grid design, with wide streets and homogeneous buildings, introduced pioneering anti-seismic engineering solutions known as the “pombalino” system. Under this urban order, valuable archaeological strata are preserved with remains of Roman, medieval and pre-earthquake period, which evidence the long historical continuity of the center of Lisbon.
