Your 3-day desert adventure begins with a morning pickup from a designated meeting point in the Medina of Fes. Settle into a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle and start your journey south toward the Sahara Desert.
Arrive in Ifrane, a charming mountain town known for its alpine-style architecture, clean streets, and cool climate. Enjoy a short walk through the town and learn about its origins during the French protectorate era in 1928.
Continue through the Middle Atlas Mountains to the cedar forests near Azrou. Stop to admire the towering cedar trees and, if you’re lucky, encounter the friendly Barbary macaques that inhabit the area.
After lunch along the route, travel through changing landscapes toward the desert. Pause near Aoufous to enjoy a panoramic view of a lush oasis filled with palm trees, offering a striking contrast to the surrounding arid terrain.
Arrive in Merzouga in the afternoon, where your Sahara adventure truly begins. Ride camels across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi for approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes, with a stop atop a high dune to watch a breathtaking desert sunset. Upon arrival at your desert camp, check into your private tent and enjoy a traditional dinner. In the evening, gather around the campfire for live Berber drumming and music under a spectacular star-filled sky. A 4x4 transfer to the camp is also available as an alternative to the camel ride.
Wake up early to enjoy a peaceful desert sunrise over the dunes of Erg Chebbi. After breakfast at the camp, you’ll depart Merzouga and continue your journey toward the Atlas Mountains.
Travel to Rissani, one of Morocco’s most authentic market towns and the former capital of the Tafilalt region. Visit its traditional souks, where locals trade spices, dates, vegetables, and handmade goods. This stop offers a genuine glimpse into everyday Moroccan life, far from tourist crowds.
Continue to the spectacular Todra Gorges, Morocco’s deepest canyon, with towering limestone cliffs reaching over 300 meters high. Take a short walk along the riverbed beneath the canyon walls and enjoy the dramatic natural scenery before continuing toward Dades.
Arrive in the Dades Valley in the afternoon. Explore the unique rock formations known as the “Monkey Fingers,” followed by a stop at a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the winding road and rugged gorges. In the evening, check into your hotel and enjoy a traditional dinner in a peaceful mountain setting.
After breakfast at your hotel, enjoy the fresh mountain air before departing the Dades Valley. Admire the dramatic rock formations and winding roads as you begin your journey west toward Marrakech.
Arrive in Ouarzazate, known for its cinematic landscapes and historic kasbahs. Enjoy a short stop to take photos and learn about the city’s role in Morocco’s film industry and caravan history.
Visit the legendary Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, one of Morocco’s most iconic fortified villages and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore its clay-built alleys and towers while learning about its history as a former caravan stop. This site has also served as a backdrop for many international films and TV series.
Cross the spectacular High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass. Enjoy several scenic stops along the way to admire panoramic views of mountain peaks, Berber villages, and winding valleys.
Arrive in Marrakech in the late afternoon. Drop-off at the closest point accessible by car to your hotel or riad, marking the end of your unforgettable Fes to Marrakech desert tour.
