"Usobuki Hachiman Shrine" is said to have been founded in the second year of the Ninju era (852). It is known to have been revered by successive rulers and lords of the region and deeply worshipped by the general public throughout its history.
Behind the Kannon-do (Kannon Hall), water trickles down from the middle of a massive rock wall on both the left and right sides. This water has been regarded as sacred for centuries and has been a focal point of popular faith. According to legend, those who had difficulty producing breast milk would cook rice porridge using this water and experience an improvement in milk production. Because of this, the Senju Kannon (Thousand-Armed Kannon) enshrined here is also known by the nickname "The Kannon of Milk." Even today, many people come daily to draw this sacred water.
