The adventure begins on Day 1 with a 6am departure from Durban as you head north through the scenic landscapes of KwaZulu-Natal to the world-renowned Hluhluwe–Imfolozi Park. Here you will embark on a thrilling three-hour open vehicle game drive, with the chance to spot elephants, rhinos, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, and an abundance of birdlife in one of Africa’s oldest protected reserves. After an exciting morning safari, enjoy a relaxing lunch break before continuing to the spectacular iSimangaliso Wetland Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The day ends with an overnight stay in the charming town of St Lucia, at St Lucia Palms or similar accommodation.
On Day 2, after breakfast, you’ll set out on a two-hour boat cruise along the St Lucia Estuary, the largest estuary in Africa and home to an incredible concentration of hippos and crocodiles, as well as prolific birdlife such as fish eagles and kingfishers. This unique experience allows you to see these animals up close in their natural water-based habitat, offering unforgettable photographic opportunities. Following the cruise, enjoy a leisurely lunch break in St Lucia.
The afternoon continues with a three-hour safari in the Dukuduku section of iSimangaliso Wetland Park, a region of diverse ecosystems ranging from coastal forests to savannah grasslands. This safari offers further chances to spot game such as rhino, elephant, giraffe, kudu, reedbuck, buffalo, and many more.
After an enriching day of exploration, you depart St Lucia and travel back through the rolling hills and rural villages of KwaZulu-Natal, returning to Durban in the late afternoon, filled with memories of an unforgettable two-day safari and wetland adventure.
