Alsace is home to no fewer than 51 Grand Cru terroirs, where only the four most prestigious grape varieties of the region (Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, and Muscat) are cultivated, with the exception of Sylvaner.

The names of these terroirs are often mysterious, and the winemakers will be happy to explain their meaning and uniqueness to you.

These terroirs represent the pinnacle of Alsace’s vineyards, with Grand Crus located all along the Alsace wine route, always on hillsides with optimal exposure.

During your visit to the winegrowers, you'll have the opportunity to taste the different grape varieties from the Grand Cru hillsides, and sometimes even the same grape variety from several Grand Cru parcels.

The winemakers will introduce you to the wines that are the pride of their estates and will delight your taste buds.

These wines boast incomparable elegance and exceptional aromatic richness, drawn directly from the soil in which the vines are planted.

As early as 1648, the Wach family started out in the world of wine by working as coopers. From 1780, the wine production diversifies business activities. Since1888, the profession of Alsatian winegrower has been a full-time occupation. Concerned about preserving the heritage of our region, we are committed to Biological approach. Each Grand Cru - Moenchberg, Wiebelsberg, Kastelberg – is sold after a minimum of 3 years of bottle ageing. This allows the different elements of the wine to be harmonized. In other words, it is a refining process, like a cheese maker.

The Hering family has been producing wine in Barr, the wine-growing capital of the Lower Rhine, since 1858. The vineyards are located in the commune of Barr, in the heart of the Vosges foothills. Covering more than 10 hectares, the vines are cultivated with respect for the environment, for the well-being of all. Kirchberg de Barr was one of the 25 Grands Crus that now form part of the history of Alsatian terroir wines, along with 26 other Grands Crus.

Domaine Céline METZ is the new generation and the continuation of Domaine Hubert METZ. As the 11th generation in the estate's history, we are fortunate to be able to cultivate 10 hectares of vineyards, including 2 in the Winzenberg Grand Cru (granite), and to make wine in a family cellar dating back to 1728.
