You’ll explore the Kalyan Mosque, still active today, and admire the intricate tilework of Mir-i-Arab Madrassah (viewed from outside, as it’s an active religious school). In the afternoon, transfer to the train station for your Afrosiyob high-speed train departing at 16:16 PM. Arrive in Samarkand after about 1 hour 30 minutes, where your driver will meet you at the station and take you to your hotel for check-in. Overnight in Samarkand.
What you’ll see and do: This elegant mausoleum houses the tombs of Amir Temur (Tamerlane) and his descendants. The interior is richly decorated with gold leaf and turquoise tiles — one of the most beautiful examples of Timurid art. What you’ll see and do: This world-famous complex is the heart of Samarkand and one of the most iconic sites of the Silk Road. It features three grand madrasahs — Ulugh Beg, Sher-Dor, and Tilya-Kori — decorated with intricate blue and gold mosaics. What you’ll see and do: Continue to Amirsoy, Uzbekistan’s most modern mountain resort. You can stroll around the resort, take the optional cable car ride (ticket not included), or relax at one of the scenic restaurants. In winter, visitors may see skiers and snow activities; in summer, it’s perfect for photography and fresh mountain air.
