This is a premium tour through the heart of Tokyo. As we go we will see grand and historic markers that showcase Japan's proud history.
We will start your tour at the focal point of all roads in Tokyo, Nihonbashi. This is a beautiful bridge that bears the scars of Japan's tumultuous mid 20th century.
From there we will go to the beautiful Tokyo Station. A spot that is popular for photos, and also the starting point of all shinkansen, or bullet trains.
Next, we will visit the grand epicenter of Tokyo, the Imperial Palace. The gardens that surround it are neat, well kept expanses, surrounded by Edo era walls and moats. The grand gate we will walk through will serve as a reminder for the strength the castle once had.
Finally, we will finish at the art deco monument that is the Japanese National Diet Building. The building serves as a marker of Japanese pride. Rested atop a hill, over looking the Imperial Palace below, it stands as a marker of democracy in Japan.
Two minute walk from exit B9b of Nihonbashi Station. Five minute walk from exit A4 of Mitsukoshimae Station.
The starting point of the tour will be the historic, Meiji era, Nihonbashi bridge. This bridge was built after the Meiji restoration and features many themes from bygone centuries. The bridge is also significant as it is mile marker 1 of all roads in Tokyo. Perfect starting place!
The next stop on your tour is the world famous Tokyo Station. The station itself is not nearly as glamorous as the Tokyo Station Hotel that sits over it! The beautiful building will be a great place to take photos.
We will walk through the Imperial Palace park, and we will see the old outer walls and moat. The palace is a must see. From the park we will pass through a grand gate and see the shear size of what was once the most expensive piece of real estate in the world!
Finishing off your walking tour, we will end at the National Diet Building, or Japanese parliament. This historic building has served as the seat of power since the 1930s. On your way to the building itself we can see a special park that has many curiosities in it. We will then pass in front of the building itself, with more opportunities for photos, and finish at kokkaigijido-mae station.
For the Extended Tour Option: We will visit the tallest building in Japan, Toranomon Tower. This tall building looms over the surrounding landscape, and is a must see when in Tokyo.
For the Extended Tour Option: After Toranomon Hills, the next stop on the extended tour is the very iconic Tokyo Tower. We will see the tower, learn its history, and enjoy the surrounding park.
For the Extended Tour Option: For the final stop of the extended tour we will visit Zojoji Temple. This historic temple, at the foot of Tokyo Tower, served as the burial place of the Tokugawa family, a dynasty of Shogun that used to rule over Japan during the Edo period.
