Akasaka Palace was built between 1899 and 1909. It is also the first asset to be designated a national treasure after the Meiji Restoration. The Palace is as grand as Peter Hof, Hof burg, or Versailles. It is an ornate neo-baroque style building that used to serve as the primary residence for the crown prince. After World War 2, however, the building took on a new role as a state house for foreign dignitaries visiting Japan. The awe inspiring palace is a must see for anyone visiting Tokyo as it offers a glimpse into the once regal nature of the country during its days of empire. Whether you love history, or just love architecture, it should be a mandatory stop.
We will meet at the Akasaka Exit 1 of Yotsuya Station. This is the metro line exit. We will gather in front of the gate of the station.
We will head from the station to the grand Akasaka Palace. We will tour around the main gate area of the palace before heading into the palace gardens. After this we will have a chance to tour inside of the grand halls before getting to see the main lawn of the palace.
