We will meet outside of Asakusa Station. Due to the nature of reserving the train, the meeting time can vary.
After traveling on the Tobu and Aziu lines for around 4 hours we will arrive at Ashinomaki Onsen Station. This station is known for having cats as the Station Masters.
We will then check into the Marumine Onsen Hotel. At this hotel we will have lunch or dinner, depending on the time that we arrive. After this, we will relax at the hotel and enjoy the Onsen.
Tsuruga Castle is the site of the final battle of the Boshin War, the war that ended the Samurai. This castle hosts a museum and a tea house. We will tour both of these places.
After seeing the castle, we will take a short walk to the Fukushima museum. This Museum tells all about Fukushima prefecture and the city of Aizu Wakamatsu. It also touches on ancient and natural history. Featuring geology exhibits and fossils.
After seeing the Fukushima museum, we will take a bus to the Samurai manor of Aizu. Here we can see how the Samurai lords used to live, and we can learn more about their demise during the Boshin war.
After checking out of our hotel we will go to Aizu Wakamatsu station to store our items. We will then have the choice of either taking a bus, or walking to the next site.
This spot is where the legendary White Tiger Samurai group took their own lives after losing Tsuruga Castle. At this sight we will also see several surprising features, and an amazing view of Aizu Wakamatsu.
Sazaedo is the oldest wooden structure from the Edo period in Japan. It is also the only wooden double helix structure of its kind in the world. The sight is a shrine, however, it feels more like an architecture exhibit.
