Need a break only 30 minutes from San José? Come breathe the fresh air of a tropical cloud forest and observe unique wildlife (sloths, quetzals, & tucanets if we are lucky). Slow hiking is unique, it let's us take the time out of our busy lives and appreciate our beautiful surroundings. This is an experience for all ages. Some areas of the hike are steep, but we can go as slow as you need, there is always something fascinating to see!

Meeting and pickup

Meeting point

We will meet at the entrance of the Monte de la Cruz tourist center. The place can be reached by taxi, Uber or public bus (sometimes the bus arrives at the entrance of the tourist center, you should ask the driver about this possibility).

What to expect

Come see quetzals and sloths in cloud forests only 30 minutes from San José! We will enjoy Costa Rica's cloud forest, hiking together, observing unique forest birds, sloths, plants, and insects. We will also view stunning forest landscapes and you will see San José city from a distance. I am a Costa Rican avid birder and also have my PhD in Latin American Studies, so you can also ask me about Costa Rican and Latin American culture and history. I will tailor this trip based on your interests / needs, we can hike short or longer distances. Some of the hike is up hill and moderate level, but we can take as much time as you need. Come breathe some fresh air and escape the hustle and bustle of San José for the day.
