Would you like to experience traditional Japanese crafts in Kyoto? This workshop is located an 8-minute walk from Shugakuin Imperial Villa. This is a workshop where you can make spoons from pure silver. I think it's rare to find a workshop where you can make cutlery from pure silver. Since ancient times, silver has been considered a talisman to ward off misfortune and evil spirits. There is also a custom of giving a silver spoon to a baby to wish them happiness. Please rest assured that our craftsmen will carefully assist you. Place the finished spoon in a paulownia box. I think it would be great as a souvenir for yourself or a gift for a loved one!

Meeting and pickup
10 minutes walk from Eizan Electric Railway's Shugakuin Station or Takaragaike Station. It is an 8-minute walk from Shugakuin Imperial Villa. Enter the side road from the road along the mountain. Please search by Japanese address. 1-15 Shugakuin Yamanohana-cho, Sakyo-ku, Kyoto City
What to expect
Add your favorite pattern to the spoon fabric prepared here using a chisel or stamp of your choice. Hit it with a hammer to make it into a spoon shape.
Once it's in the shape of a spoon, smooth the sides with a file and burnisher.
Next, a craftsman polishes it using a machine (because they use a machine, this is done with safety in mind).
Finally, please polish it yourself with an abrasive.
The approximate finished size is 12cm long and 2.7cm wide. Recommended for use as teaspoons, etc.
