The Douro Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2001, is one of the most stunning and historic wine regions in the world, located in northern Portugal. It is the oldest demarcated wine region globally, officially established in 1756 by the Marquês de Pombal.

Amarante is a picturesque town in northern Portugal, nestled along the banks of the Tâmega River, a major tributary of the Douro. Located about 60 kilometers (37 miles) east of Porto, it is renowned for its charming historic center, beautiful granite architecture, and stunning natural landscapes, including the backdrop of the Serra do Marão mountains. Key highlights and features include: Ponte de São Gonçalo (São Gonçalo Bridge): This iconic 18th-century bridge is a national monument and a symbol of the local population's heroic resistance against Napoleon's troops during the Peninsular War in 1809. Religious Heritage: The town is closely associated with the 13th-century Benedictine monk São Gonçalo, its patron saint, whose church and convent are major landmarks. The annual festival in his honor is particularly famous, especially among those seeking love and fertility.

2Peso Da Regua
Heart of the Douro Wine Region: Its history is deeply connected to the world's oldest demarcated wine region. River Douro: The city is strategically located on the banks of the Douro River, which has historically been crucial for transporting wine barrels downstream in barcos rabelos. The Douro Museum, housed in the historic headquarters of the General Company of the Vineyards of the Upper Douro, offers insight into the region's wine-making history. The landscape is dominated by terraced vineyards, creating stunning views that are best appreciated from viewpoints like São Leonardo de Galafura. It was recognized as the "City of Wine" in 2019 and the Douro region was named "European City of Wine" in 2023.

3Pinhao
Pinhão is a charming and picturesque village located in the heart of the Douro Valley, one of the world's oldest and most revered wine regions, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Nestled on the right bank of the Douro River and surrounded by steep, terraced vineyards, it is widely considered the living heart and a crucial hub for Port wine production and trade. The village offers breathtaking landscapes with rolling hills covered in symmetrical terraced vineyards, providing a perfect backdrop for relaxation and photography. The station is famous for its 24 panels of traditional Portuguese azulejo tiles, which depict historical scenes of the wine harvest, grape treading, and the transport of wine in traditional rabelo boats down the river. The area is home to many prestigious wine estates (Quintas) where visitors can enjoy wine tastings and learn about the winemaking process that produces world-class Port and Douro table wines.
