Sandboarding is the quintessential adventure activity outside the sea in La Paz. It takes place in the majestic Mogote Dunes, a peninsula of sand and desert landscapes located about 40 minutes from the city. This unique ecosystem is home to the famous "singing dunes," a natural acoustic phenomenon caused by the friction of the sand grains as they slide down. It is an activity suitable for all ages and skill levels, as the dunes range from small and beginner-friendly to slopes of more than 30 meters for the bravest.

Imagine the perfect contrast: your feet on the fine, warm sand, surrounded by cacti with extravagant shapes, while the deep blue of the Sea of Cortez stretches out before you. The experience begins with the ascent to the top of the dune; Upon arrival, the view of La Paz Bay at sunset will take your breath away.

What to expect
Sandboarding El Mogote works for all ages and fitness levels. No prior experience needed — your guide covers technique before the first run and stays with you throughout. The dunes are accessible year-round and sunset runs are exceptional.
Transport from the La Paz Malecón included. All sandboard equipment provided. Daily departures, 4 hours total. Suitable for ages 6 and up.
The Sea of Cortez side of El Mogote is home to the legend of Las Ciruelas — the plum trees of the Mogote. Local legend says anyone who eats from them is destined to return to La Paz forever.
