After picking you up at Marrakech airport, or at the hotel or riad of your choice, we will begin this unforgettable 4-day route through the interior of Morocco. During the journey through the Atlas Mountains we will cross Tizi n'Tichka. Located at 2,260 metres, this is the highest road pass in Morocco.
The journey through the Atlas mountains will finally take us to Ouarzazate. We will travel to the outskirts of the city to visit the legendary kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou: a citadel that has served as a natural set for the filming of films such as Gladiator or Kingdom of Heaven. We will also be able to see the kasbah of Taourirt from the outside.
From Ait Ben Haddu we will continue the itinerary of this day towards Skoura, where we will be captivated by the kasbah of Amredhyle. We will conclude this unforgettable day crossing the valleys of Roses and Dades. We will have dinner and stay in a hotel in the Dades Valley.
After a good breakfast at the hotel in the Dades Valley, we will set off towards the Todra Gorges. We will contemplate the amazing natural landscapes of these breathtaking gorges, whose rugged terrain has been well exploited by the Berbers who live in the area. The route will continue towards the lush palm grove of Jorf and the small town of Erfoud, where we will visit a traditional marble workshop. When the orange lights of dusk begin to break in the Moroccan sky, we will reach the Merzouga desert. We will head towards the tent camp where we will spend the next two nights enjoying an exciting camel ride through the dunes. The day will conclude with a succulent dinner under the stars of the desert.
We will wake up early to admire the sunrise in the desert from the tents. After our breakfast in the tents restaurant you can return to the Merzouga hostel by camel or 4×4. Our first visit will be to the oasis of Tissardmine, where we will be surprised by its palm grove and vegetation in the middle of the desert landscape, where crops are usually grown.
We continue along a route that was used in the Dakar Rally and head to a viewing point where we will have a panoramic view of the Merzouga desert. Then we will visit a nomadic community in the Merzouga desert. The nomads live in adobe houses and haimas, this community will show us their way of life in the desert. We will continue along a path through the Hamada (stone desert) to the Mfiss mines where they extract quartz, lead and Khol (used for eye make-up pencils).
We will discover the village of Khamlia. This desert village is known for Gnawa music, where we will be able to attend a small music concert. In Khamlia, most of its inhabitants are originally from Mali and Sudan, who arrived in the days of slavery. Therefore, traditional Gnawa music transmits to us the culture and values of this community. In Khamlia we will have lunch to try the specialty of the area: Berber pizza! After our visit we will transfer you to the hotel to rest for half a day. Free afternoon (Before sunset we offer you the possibility of climbing a high dune to watch the sunset from there). We end the day with our dinner at the hotel.
Those who wish to do so can get up early to enjoy one of the most unforgettable events of their stay in the Sahara, the sunrise, a spectacle of light and silence that will impress its spectators. Breakfast and return to Marrakech passing through Rissani, the city of Moulay Ali Chrif, where we could buy the most famous spices of the South. Arrival in Marrakech at approximately 7:30 p.m. And our service ends and we will see you on the next adventure.
