As well as being free to visit the museum of Portugal's greatest painter, Amadeo de Sousa Cardoso, located in the historic city centre of Amarante, you can be welcomed by the artist's own family, take part in a painting workshop and enjoy a wine tasting in a traditional Portuguese farmhouse.

Meeting and pickup
Halfway along the road you'll find an exit, paved with stone parallels, signposted PENA, which leads to the entrance of a Portuguese farmhouse, enter and feel welcome. Inside, follow the signs for ‘Restaurant’ and 100 metres away you'll find a free private car park.
What to expect
This wine is produced in the territory between the Douro and Minho rivers with the peculiarities of the region's indigenous grape varieties and the ways in which the wine is grown. These factors result in a naturally light and fresh wine, different from other wines in the world.
2nd PAINTING WORKSHOP: The best-kept secret of modern art. Amadeo de Sousa Cardoso was simultaneously an impressionist, cubist, expressionist and futurist. The Portuguese artist was born in Amarante on 14 November 1887. He settled in Paris, where he socialised with artists such as the Italian painter Modigliani and exhibited his work alongside the greatest of his time, such as Braque, Picasso, Duchamp, Matisse, Kandinsky and Léger.
You will be welcomed by the artist's own family in a classic Portuguese farmhouse, more precisely in a former wine press now converted into an Art Gallery and Restaurant.
You will take part in a painting workshop led by the artist's great-niece, also a painter and plastic artist Inês Sousa Cardoso.
Where you will produce your own work of art to take home as a souvenir or to give to someone special.
