Relaxed and informative walk thats adapted to how you want to walk with no pressure. Undertaken by guides who are more than happy to assist you in gaining the most from your experience.
After we have collected you we proceed up cobbled roads to the start point at the Canon miradour. We then take one of the 9 km of tracks on Pico Castelo just to make sure you get to see a different side of this mountain walking along stone terraces and wood paths until we get to the picnic area at the top. We pause here to use the facilities have a drink before we go down a different path the the vereda around Pico Facho.
This tend to be a flatter path with equally fantastic views, lots of water erosion has sculptured the slopes. From treed shade to open fields this walk changes around every corner. The remains of centuries old farming is still evident although people left here years ago and crops are no longer grown. Beyond our glorious beach if we are lucky Madeira will be floating on the horizon.

We start from the Cannon miradouro and take one of the many paths around and up to the Picnic area at the top of Pico Castelo. After a short break and many photographs we then begin the walk to Pico Facho. The walk will allow you to see the different sides and terrain of the peak. the years of hard work that has gone in to stabilising the peak and the tree planting on what was once a bare peak.

The walk here becomes much more gentle as it circles the peak. Water erosion has played a dramatic part in the shaping of the mountain as it carves out the soft almost sandy rocks. The walk ranges from wooded trails to open fields and has some amazing views and combined with Pico Castelo gives you a full visual panorama of the island. Each season is really different here from rich greens in the winter to sandy browns in the summer.
