Experience the rich cultural heritage of Indonesia by learning the ancient art of batik in the heart of Bali. In this workshop, you'll get to create your own batik masterpiece, with guidance and support throughout the process. From selecting your design to applying traditional dyeing techniques, you'll enjoy a hands-on, creative experience in a relaxed, scenic environment. Whether you're a beginner or simply curious about batik, this workshop offers a unique, fun journey into Indonesian craftsmanship, leaving you with a meaningful souvenir and lasting memories from your trip.

Your experience includes a Rp 50,000 café credit, which you can use to enjoy a drink or snack while you paint and relax.

If you prefer a more private experience, the batik class can also be arranged at your hotel or villa in Bali. Simply let us know in advance, and we will bring the materials to you. Please note that a teacher transport fee will apply for hotel or villa classes.

What to expect

We will be seated around a table for 1.5 to 2.5 hours, depending on how fast things go with the process. We will begin with a demonstration of the skills involved, and then you will have a chance to do it yourself.

1. Choose a piece of artwork to use for your batik painting, and then trace it onto cloth using a pencil

2. Paint melted wax onto the cloth, following the pencil lines you traced

3. Paint colors onto the cloth

4. Apply a liquid to fix the colors on the cloth

5. Lorod Process – Watch the magical moment as the wax is removed, revealing your final piece

This may sound like a lot, but it’s going to be a lot of fun and meditative !! ;)
