With the help of your cooking instructor Monisha Bharadwaj, an award winning author of 17 books including The Indian Cooking Course, Indian in 7 (winner of the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards for the Best Indian Cookbook in the Word UK) and Indian Cooking for Dummies, professional chef (Iron Chef America judge) and teacher (Recognised Culinary Educator 2025, UK) you will discover the unique flavours of Indian cooking while learning about the history of how Indian food came to be so popular in the UK. As part of this class, you will visit a local Indian food shop to learn how to choose the best exotic ingredients and cook 4 typical dishes as part of a group, in our welcoming home kitchen. The recipes will be easy enough to recreate at home with just a few ingredients and the tips you will learn in this class. Vegetarians are welcome, please let us know of any dietary restrictions.
Murgh Masala or Channa Masala- Home style chicken or chickpea curry
This dish is a north Indian curry that uses just a few spices but has a great depth of flavour due to the way the ingredients are layered and cooked.
Pulao Rice
Perfectly cooked and lightly spiced basmati rice.
Subzi
Family style every day Indian vegetable dish with spices to complement the curry of the day.
Smoked cumin raita
Salad vegetables such as cucumber combined with yoghurt and finished with a sprinkle of smoked cumin
Exit through the ticket barrier at Hounslow West underground station (it has only one exit) and meet Monisha in the foyer of the station at the class start time- 10.30am. We will finish the class around 1pm.
