Our sanctuary encompasses an entire mountainside. This is as close as possible to seeing elephants in the wild in a sanctuary. It is a non-commercial experience. We have two missions: one is to care for and protect the elephants and to ensure our guests have an educational and entertaining experience. Our guest services can be summed up in one sentence: It's All About You.

Elephant Retreat Sanctuary is located in the northern mountains of Chiang Mai. Take a journey into what many call the Jurassic Park of Thailand.- From enjoying an authentic Thai lunch amidst elephants to watching the Mahouts bathing with them and capturing these moments in free downloadable photos, it’s a day packed with unforgettable experiences.

You can choose a pickup location at checkout (multiple pickup locations are available).
Pickup details:

Guests will receive an email by 7:45 AM with their exact position in the queue. Pick-up will be between 8:00 - 9:00 AM. The driver will exit the vehicle and meet guests in the lobby.

If your hotel is outside our pick up zone please meet us at the Three Kings Monument. We will contact you with the drivers license plate number the morning of the tour. Our pick up zone is within 2KM of the old city.

What to expect

Experience the magic of a full day in the mountains of Chiang Mai. This full-day hands-off elephant tour features an elephant cooking class, river hike, Mahout elephant bathing, observing the elephants swimming, and Mahout elephant feeding experience. Finish the day by taking a swim at the Mae Wang waterfall.
