1St. Peter's Basilica
The tour includes St. Peter's Basilica, the tombs of the popes and the climb to the dome. It begins with a brief introduction to the history of the Basilica. You will enter the basilica through the imposing central portal, admiring the magnificence of Renaissance and Baroque architecture. Inside the basilica, your guide will take you through artistic masterpieces, such as Michelangelo's Pietà, Bernini's imposing canopy and the beautiful decorations that adorn the chapels and altars. The tour continues with a visit to the tombs of the popes, located under the basilica. Finally, you will climb the dome of St. Peter, designed by Michelangelo. The climb, which can be done partly by lift and partly on foot, will take you to the top of the dome, from where you can enjoy spectacular panoramic views of Rome and the Vatican.
