I call this a tour of history, hipsters, Hasids, high-rises, hops and more. Join a long-time Williamsburg resident for a walking tour of one of Brooklyn’s most well-known neighborhoods. Beyond the hipsters (are they still around!?) and new high-rises, Williamsburg is so much more. Learn about the early days before the area was part of NYC, who “William” was, and the many groups that have and still call Williamsburg home. We will visit new and old parks, see some of the coolest places to eat in New York, and perhaps have a beer (which has a long history in Williamsburg). There’s a reason this area is so well-known: it is fascinating!
We'll meet outside the Checkers at 277 Broadway between Marcy Avenue and Havemeyer Street.
The park is big so we'll find a nice spot to end before I send you on your way.
Learn about history of the bridge.
One of the newer public spaces in the area, it has great views. of Manhattan and a lovely setting.
A vibrant block that epitomizes the changes in the area but is also full of history.
A neighborhood with diverse history, people and attractions.
Another lovely park where we will end the tour.
