Guided by Jair and as part of XIQUIAN, you’ll take part in a responsible cultural experience designed to bring you closer to the meaning of Día de Muertos from a Mexican perspective, fostering respect, learning, and a deeper connection with local traditions and the land.
You'll explore different ways of understanding life, death, and memory; taste traditional foods associated with this celebration and take part in the collective creation of a Day of the Dead altar, discovering the symbolism behind each of its elements. You’ll also have the opportunity to paint your face as a traditional Mexican calavera and, most importantly, gain a deeper understanding of what makes Día de Muertos such a special and meaningful celebration for Mexicans.

What to expect
*November 1st :
Begin with a screening of short films that explore Día de Muertos from the Mexican perspective. Afterwards, learn about the traditions and symbolism behind this celebration as we prepare and decorate a Day of the Dead altar together. To complete the experience, enjoy a tasting of traditional pan de muerto and a cacao-based drink, discovering the stories and meanings behind these traditional flavors.
*November 2nd :
On the second day, become part of the celebration in a more participatory way. You’ll have your face painted as a calavera, learn about the symbolism behind this iconic Day of the Dead tradition, and create a Day of the Dead altar together, contributing elements and learning about their meaning. The experience concludes with a tasting of pan de muerto and a traditional cacao drink.
