This small-group walking tour gives you an insider’s perspective on Auckland’s volcanic landscape, Māori and European history, changing neighbourhoods, transport and everyday local life.

Rather than simply seeing the sights, you’ll gain a better understanding of how Auckland developed and what makes the city distinctive, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and get local recommendations. Finish at the summit of Maungawhau with spectacular 360-degree views across Auckland, its harbours and volcanic landscape.

    Rising 196 metres above the city, Maungawhau / Mount Eden is the tallest volcanic cone in Auckland and one of its most iconic landmarks. From the summit, you get sweeping 360° views—harbour to harbour, with the skyline, volcanic field, and surrounding suburbs all laid out below.

    Just a short stroll from Maungawhau / Mount Eden, Mount Eden Village is one of Auckland’s most appealing neighbourhood hubs—laid-back, walkable, and full of personality. It blends historic charm with a modern food scene, making it a natural stop before or after heading up the volcano.

    Britomart is the main transport and lifestyle hub of Auckland—where trains, buses, ferries, shopping, and some of the city’s best dining all come together in one compact waterfront precinct.
