What to expect

The Bici Chocolate Tour is an immersive experience at Finca La Paulina, in San Isidro de Heredia, which showcases the entire cocoa-to-chocolate process. Visitors begin with a welcome and introduction to cocoa and its history in Costa Rica. Then, they tour the farm to see cocoa trees and learn about their cultivation and harvest stages.

At the extraction station, participants help to remove the seeds from the cobs and know the fermentation and drying process. Subsequently, they use a mill bike to grind cocoa and obtain a paste, thus understanding the manual labor behind the production.

A traditional cocoa drink is prepared and tasted, explaining its importance in ancient civilizations. At the next station, attendees make their own chocolate tablets, customizing them with ingredients and learning about tempering techniques.

The tour includes a chocolate tasting to identify flavors and textures.

During the activity, participants learn about the history, culture and techniques of chocolate, enjoying an educational and practical experience.
