Gansbaai is known as the great white shark capital of the world and is only a two-and-a-half-hour scenic drive from Cape Town. It is here that will make your dreams come true! The experienced crew will share their vast knowledge of the water world where they operate when they take you to view sharks from the surface or underwater from a cage. This marine wonderland is the closest place in the world where you can safely see these apex predators in their natural environment. This activity has been unpredictable since 2017 but we are still operating and working with various shark species, including Bronze Whaler sharks.

What to expect

The shark cage diving trip departs from Kleinbaai harbour between 6h00 and 12h00, based on tides and weather. Trips usually last 3–4 hours, but timing may vary with shark activity. You will receive a confirmation by text or email with your meeting time the evening before your shark cage diving trip.

On arrival, enjoy breakfast before a safety briefing covering the route, vessel details, and potential marine life encounters. After a short walk to the harbour, you'll board our custom-built vessel, Apex Predator.

At the anchor spot, we use a legally approved chum mixture to attract sharks. Note: we do not use or feed shark products, as mandated. Once sharks are near, you can capture photos of these apex predators from the boat or within the shark cage.

Please book in advance and allow for a two-day window in case of weather delays. Jackets are provided for protection at sea. After returning to shore, enjoy a debrief with soup and bread rolls.
