You might get the opportunity to see how the salmon navigate their way up the river through this impressive construction – a unique experience that showcases the power of nature and human innovation. Most visitors to the center will see and experience the salmon, but we cannot give a 100% guarantee that there will be fish present in the fish ladder, as nature decides that for itself.
Meet up next to Radisson Blu Caledonien Hotel in Kristiansand, a 5-10 minute walk from the cruise port and bus/train station. Please be present 15 minutes prior to departure.
Our guide will meet you by the Caledonien Hotel, and you will enter the bus for a guided tour to the Salmon Centre.
Upon arriving at Kvåsfossen, you will be guided through the center and into the mountain facility, which houses the fish ladder. Learn about the fascinating life cycle of the wild salmon, from hatching and growing up in the river, to its journey into the vast North Atlantic, and finally, its return to the river to spawn and continue the species.
Explore the center on your own. Visit the famous Plank. the beautiful waterfall and explore the interactive activities in the center. There is a café where you can purchase something to eat and drink.
Enjoy the ride back to the starting point in Kristiansand.
