This 3-day tour will give you a taste of the highlights of Beijing and Shanghai. You will have the opportunity to see the Mutianyu Great Wall of China, Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, Temple of Heaven, and Summer Palace. In Beijing, you can also indulge in the delicious Peking roast duck and Old Beijing Hot Pot.
Please note that this tour does not include hotel accommodation in Beijing and Shanghai, so you will need to book your own accommodations.
We will start our tour by picking you up from the lobby of your hotel in downtown Beijing. Our first destination is the famous Mutianyu Great Wall, known for its stunning scenery and relatively less crowded compared to other parts of the Great Wall in Beijing. Here, you can enjoy a peaceful and scenic walk along the wall, with the round-trip cable car ride included in the tour. After visiting the Great Wall, we will stop by a popular local restaurant for a delicious Chinese lunch before heading back to Beijing.
After visiting Mutianyu Great Wall, we will head back to downtown Beijing and visit Nanluoguxiang Hutong. As Beijing has a history of over 2600 years, there are many old alleys to explore. Nanluoguxiang Hutong is the oldest and most famous alley in Beijing, dating back to the Yuan dynasty 700 years ago. Walking through Nanluoguxiang, you can experience the local life and the city's history. For dinner, we will take you to a popular local roast duck restaurant in an old courtyard. Peking roast duck is a world-renowned delicacy, and watching the duck being roasted in the oven and seeing the chef slice it in front of you with a sharp knife is a unique and exciting food experience. After dinner, we will drive you back to your hotel.
In the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel and head to Tiananmen Square, which is the largest square in the world and has played a significant role in China's history. Many important events and ceremonies have taken place here, and it is home to iconic landmarks such as the Chairman Mao Memorial Hall and the National Museum of China. Tiananmen Square was originally a part of the Forbidden City during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and it was transformed into a public square in 1949 after the Communist Revolution. You will have the opportunity to learn about its rich history and significance to the Chinese people. After the visit to Tiananmen Square, we will proceed to the nearby Forbidden City, which is the largest palace complex in the world and has a history of over 600 years. The Forbidden City served as the imperial palace for the Ming and Qing Dynasties and is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
We will enter the Forbidden City. Built 600 years ago during the Ming Dynasty, it served as the imperial palace for both the Ming and Qing dynasties. The palace making it the largest palace in the world. The front area houses three grand halls used for the emperor's official duties, while the back area served as the residential quarters for the emperor. We'll follow the palace's axis line from the south gate to the north gate, taking in the grandeur and history of this magnificent structure. After our visit, we'll head to a local restaurant that's popular for serving Beijing traditional hot pot. Please notice that Forbidden City will be closed on every Monday.So we will replace the Forbidden City with Summer Palace or Lama temple.
After lunch, we will visit another UNESCO World Heritage site in Beijing, the Temple of Heaven. This ancient temple was where Chinese emperors would come to pray for a good harvest during the new year. The architecture and design of the temple is a masterpiece of ancient Chinese culture and architecture. In addition to the temple itself, there is also a park where locals gather to practice tai chi, dance, and sing Peking Opera. You can experience the vibrant local culture here as you watch the activities in the park. After our visit to the Temple of Heaven, we will drive back to your included hotel.
In the morning, your Beijing tour guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel lobby after breakfast. Our first destination will be the Summer Palace, which is even bigger than the Forbidden City. This was the place where the emperors and their concubines would retreat to for an imperial summer resort. The palace is surrounded by the beautiful Kunming Lake and boasts of many stunning ancient palace buildings. It is truly a sight to behold.
After exploring the beauty and history of Summer Palace, it's time to head to Beijing International Airport for your flight to Shanghai. Your private tour guide and driver will accompany you to the airport and assist you with any necessary arrangements before your departure. Upon your arrival at Shanghai Pudong Airport, a local driver will be waiting to greet you and take you to your booked hotel in the downtown area of Shanghai. This marks the end of your three-day private tour in Beijing, and the beginning of your adventure in the vibrant city of Shanghai.
