What to expect

Experience one of South Africa’s top-rated day hikes on a guided adventure through the dramatic Jonkershoek Nature Reserve. The Panorama Trail is a challenging but highly rewarding route with rugged terrain, steep ascents, and sweeping mountain views throughout.

Meet your professional mountain guide at the Jonkershoek entrance before driving deeper into the valley framed by towering peaks. After a safety and route briefing, begin a steady climb that soon becomes a steep, rocky ascent, gaining over 1,000 meters of elevation in a relatively short distance. Your guide sets a safe, sustainable pace with regular rest stops and time to enjoy the scenery.

From the high ridge, take in panoramic views of the Stellenbosch mountains, deep gorges, and fynbos-covered slopes. The descent passes the Berg River Saddle, with views into the pristine Assegaibos Kloof Valley, before looping back into the valley to complete this memorable mountain circuit.
