Fly Addis Ababa (ADD) - Jinka (BCO) - Continue Driving to Turmi Your driver and guide will meet you at Jinka (Baco) airport and continue a 130 km (2 hours) drive to Turmi town to visit the Hamar tribe. You may see Aari, Banna, or Hamar tribal market on the way on a market day (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday). In the late afternoon, you will visit a remote Hamar tribe village and get an authentic immersion experience with the Hamar people. Once a week, a small town of Key Afer in the Lower Omo Valley holds a large market (the largest in Omo Valley) where three different tribes come together to buy and sell. The market brings together people from Tsemai, Hamer, and Bena tribes. Everything from fruits and vegetables to wood to honey and butter to silverware and animals is sold here – the open-air market brims with color and sound. Some are not tourist-friendly, but the vast majority of mostly women sellers are happy to pose for your pictures with their wares.
Drive from Turmi - Karo / Kara Tribe - Jinka Depart for a 65 km (1 hour) drive to Karo Korcho village and meet the Kara people who reside by the Omo River. You will have a genuine interaction with the Karo people famous for intricate body and face paintings. You can get your face and/or body painted in Kara style. Drive to Turmi for lunch, you may visit a tribal market on a market day (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday). You may also attend a tribal ceremonial event such as the Hamar Bull Jumping Ceremony (optional), or Evangadi Dancing Ceremony (optional). Finally, continues a 130 km (2 hours) drive to Jinka.
Jinka to Mursi Tribe - Fly to Addis Ababa Drive 50 km one way to meet with the Mursi people and return back to Jinka. The Mursi people are a nomadic tribe who live on the land between the Mago and Omo National Parks. Mursi women wear lip plates on their bottom lips. Finally, you will be dropped off at Jinka Airport for your flight to Addis Ababa.
