1Sigiriya The Ancient Rock Fortress
We’ll meet you at the Dambulla Clock Tower or your hotel, then set off in our comfortable Suzuki Wagon R. During the short drive, we’ll share stories of Sigiriya’s fascinating history. Upon arrival, purchase your entrance ticket and begin exploring the 5th-century Water Gardens—renowned for their ingenious irrigation—and the Boulder Gardens, where giant rocks form a natural fortress. Next, we’ll ascend to view the famed frescoes of the “Heavenly Maidens” and visit the Mirror Wall, etched with centuries-old graffiti and poetry. Marvel at the colossal Lion’s Paws before climbing to the summit ruins of King Kasyapa’s palace. Enjoy sweeping views of the jungle and distant hills, capturing memorable photos as we discuss the fortress’s strategic importance. Afterward, we’ll descend and return to Dambulla, dropping you off where we started. This half-day tour blends history, art, and breathtaking scenery, providing a vivid window into Sri Lanka’s ancient heritage.
