    Fort Jesus is a historic fort located in Mombasa, Kenya. Built by the Portuguese between 1593 and 1596, it stands as one of the most important historical landmarks along the East African coast. It played a key role in controlling access to the East African coast and the lucrative spice, slave and ivory trade done by the oman arabs
