What to expect
A private transfer is ideal for starting your holiday, sparing you the hassle of finding a taxi or taking a crowded bus.
Your driver will pick you up from downtown Beijing hotels or the airport and drive you to the Great Wall. Upon arrival, they’ll help with ticket purchases (at your expense), inform you of their waiting spot, and let you explore independently. After your self-guided tour, meet the driver at the parking lot for the return trip to your hotel or airport.
Note: This is just a private transfer. Excluded are entrance fees, meals, and tour guides. The driver doesn’t speak English—use their phone to contact the local operator for questions.
For layovers, provide flight details when booking; the local operator will email the meeting point and pickup time.
Great Wall sections to choose from:
1：Mutianyu (75km from downtown, 1.5-hour drive): Popular with foreigners, featuring well-preserved walls, greenery, and paved steps. Entrance fee: 60rmb/person; cable car round trip or ski lift + toboggan: 140rmb/person.
2: Juyongguan (closest, 1–1.15-hour drive): Has a historic fortress (unlike most sections). Entrance fee: 45rmb/person; no cable car.
3: Badaling (1.5-hour drive): Famous but crowded and commercialized. Not recommended on public holidays (heavy traffic, mandatory shuttle buses waste time). Entrance fee: 45rmb/person; cable car: 120rmb/person.
4: Simatai + Gubei Water Town (2-hour drive): Explore a replica water town (stroll, try snacks, evening bazaars) and a wild, authentic Great Wall section with mountain views. Entrance fee: 280rmb/person (includes cable car).
