After checking into your rooms and getting refreshed join the other groups of Manaslu & Tsum Valley Trekking at meeting hall or place for briefing, where our guide offers useful important information regarding trek and your stay in Nepal with us. Evening includes welcome dinner in a nice and authentic Nepalese restaurant with Folk Culture program of Nepal while having your dinner.
Morning as per the time given on briefing, depart for tour around Kathmandu at places of interest, as Kathmandu valley is steeped with historical and religious monuments temples and monasteries full of World Heritage Sites. Star attractions of this sightseeing are the ancient Buddhist stupa of Swayambhunath, also known as the Monkey Temple, known for its unique blend of Hinduism and Buddhism besides the beautiful view of Kathmandu city from its premises. We then head on to the Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest stupas in the world, which has the Tibetan community, Sherpas and tourists circumambulating around it alike every day. Get immersed in the peaceful Buddhist mantras and observe the pilgrims paying their respect to Lord Buddha. We shall then visit the Hindu sacred pilgrimage of Pashupatinath Temple, in the complex of which you shall find several small temples, statues and ancient heritages. People find the meaning of life when they observe the open cremation at the bank of holy Bagmati River, get blessings from the sadhus draped in saffron and holding trident, and feel the positivity. After an interesting tour afternoon free to relax and preparation for Manaslu & Tsum Valley Trekking next early morning overland drive to Gorkha area.
Morning after breakfast, our representative will transfer you on a scenic drive towards Mid-West on Nepal’s busy and main highway. As the journey leads from urban region to lower warmer mid hills, visitors past various farm villages and towns with views of snowcapped peaks. The drive takes about 7-8 hours where visitors also witness waterfalls, Trishuli River and Budi Gandaki River along the route. The roadway is fair with some parts being bumpy. Lunch is served along the route where favorable. On the way you will witness the famous waterfall named Nauli Jharana. After a quick snap at Nauli Jharana, continue walking along the river side of Budigandaki passing along short settlements like Khursani Bari, Labu besi until reaching Machha Khola. Upon reaching Machha Khola pass the first check post for Manaslu Conservation Area where all the logistics is handled by the guide provided by Nepal Trekking Planner. After that settle in an accommodation place and have rest until dinner is served.
Begin the trek form Maccha khola to Dobhan via Tatopani. The trek takes about 6 hours where the trail is in good condition without being steep. Various waterfalls can be seen along the way. This section of the route contains natural hot spring (tatopani) which is used by various travellers in this region for rejuvenation. You can enjoy this place free of cost but it’s necessary to respect the region and use the place with ecofriendly and disciplined intention. After that, continue to hike towards Dobhan. Upon reaching Dobhan ( means meeting point of two rivers) you can rest and immerse in the Gurung settlement.
Today trek is up to Philim which takes about 6 hours from Dobhan. The In the morning, take a walk across a wide gravel bed towards Lauri. Then, cross a suspension bridge that leads to a climb along a high path. Descend into an open valley known as Yara Khola, and the journey continues for another hour to reach the village of Jagat. Jagat is a fair size village after Arughat; people around here are of mixed race Magar, Chettris, Brahman, Bhotiya’s (Tibetan looking tribes) and some few Newar merchant and shopkeepers. There is a small stop at Jagat for another MCAP checkpost. License and permits are thoroughly checked here. The trail from Jagat descends to a long series of stone steps to a river. From here the path climbs a terraced hillside to Salleri, overlooking distance view of Siringi Himal 7,187m from this spot, the walk follows ups and down trail as we reach to the bridge over Buri-Gandaki.
Get up for an early morning breakfast at the accommodation place. Begin the trek towards Lokpa from Philim. Lunch is served at Ekle bhatti (approx.1600m/5249.344ft) which is about 2 hours distance from Philim. During this trek pass along the pine forest for upto 2-2.5 hours from Ekle Bhatti until reaching Lokpa. Lokpa marks as the first village of Tsum valley. There are only 2-3 settlements which are established only for tourists. So the main purpose of these houses is business. Rest at the accommodation place at Lokpa.
Wake up for a fulfilling breakfast at Lokpa. Begin the trek upto Chumling which lasts for about 6 hour. The path starts inside dense pine forest. During spring National flower of Nepal, Rhododendron can be seen. Cross the Sarti gorge, rock fall and siyar khola bridge to reach chumling. Lunch is done along the way. En route you will pass through three suspension bridges to reach Chumling. Upon reaching Chumling settle in an accommodation place where dinner is served. Morning walks leads on downhill path to cross a bridge over Smatiking Khola, with views of Ganesh Himal also known as Yangra at 7,422 m high, and then reaching at Chokhanparo village for overnight stop.
Begin the day with a fulfilling breakfast at Chumling and head onto the trek. Today’s trek is upto Chhokangpro which is about 6 hours walk. This section is especially known as the Tsum Valley Trek. We go past Tanju's water-powered prayer wheel and proceed into a deep pine forest rich with biodiversity. We then move high above Syar Khola until we reach Domje(2,460m/). From domje the uphill hike towards Chhokangparo continues.Chhokangparo is the biggest village in Tsum valley which is predominant by Lama Culture. You can have a good view of Buddha Himal and Siringi Himal from this location. Visitors can see the terraced potato farming method. Chhokangparoo is very close to Tibetian Market and is also a way to Geshe Lama Konchog retreat Cave and Galdang Gumba. Dinner is served at accommodation place.
Start the day with breakfast and head towards the trail.The walk for today is upto Nele via Rachen Gompa. The time from Chhokangparo to Nele is about 5 hours. Rachen Gumba is the biggest Gumba in Tsum Valley. Ranchen Gumba is for Nun which means only women are present in the gumba for worshipping. There are around 200 nuns and among them the oldest nun gives blessing and teaches the young ones according to culture. Ranchen Gompa is also the way towards Milarepa cave which is covered by iron prayer flags and Sarpu stupa along the route. After visiting the gumba head onwards to Nele: a small village famous for its quality and tasty potatoes. The settlements in the village consist of animal shelters on the ground floor and human housing on the upper level of the same house. Rest in the accommodation place
The trek today heads towards Mu Gompa from Nele. The trek is for around four hours with lunch stop at Chho Syong. Afterwards, the journey leads to our first main destination at Mu Gompa. We will reach the highest point around Mu Gompa in the first section of our adventure. As our walk continues, we'll climb through arid terrain, which offers views of high peaks along the way to Mu Gompa for an overnight stop. Mu Gompa is for male monks only but trekkers can sleep inside the monastery. People around the area go for Yarshagumba hunting. At Mu Gompa, you'll have a free afternoon to explore the unexplored areas around the high valley of Tsum. This region boasts traditional villages and an intriguing old Mu Gompa featuring ancient antique idols, scrolls, statues, and relics. This is one of the most important monasteries in the Tsum and Manaslu area. The village of Upper Tsum is located on the route to the Tibet border, which is rarely frequented by foreign trekkers and adventurers.
After an interesting and marvelous time at Mu Gompa proceed for breakfast. Now, our return journey leads back at Chhokangparo with a visit of impressive Rachen Gompa / monastery, walking on nice trails with some short climbs and downs passing few small scattered farm villages of cattle herders to reach at Rachen Gompa treasures historical and religious artifacts and important statues of famous Gurus with idol of Sakaymuni Buddha. Lunch is served at Rachen Gompa. With wonderful visit of the monastery in the harmony of snowcapped peaks heading downhill to overnight stop at Chhokangparo.
After breakfast retrace the steps towards Lokpa. The day is about 6 hours walk from Chhokangparo which ultimately joins the Manaslu trail. As the walk follows same path all the way to Lokpa, move along the path of Budigandaki River. Trail through lush green forests and capture stunning photographs along the way. Upon reaching Lokpa, stay at the accommodation place, rest and have dinner
The path alternates between uphill and downhill sections. In some areas, the trail is carved into sheer cliff walls, creating a dramatic landscape. After this challenging portion, the path's condition improves as you approach Deng village. The architecture and terrain undergo a significant transformation, adopting a more Tibetan-like appearance from this point onwards. After a few hours of pleasant walking, you'll reach Bihi Phedi for your overnight stop. The people in this area share the same Tibetan origin and have a rich ancient culture. Bihi Phedi has a lot of unmarried women due to shortage of Men as major populations of Men usually go abroad for employment. Bihi Phedi is also the only place to get the signal for phone. The villagers in this region primarily cultivate staple crops such as buckwheat, wheat, barley, and potatoes. Additionally, due to the increasing popularity of trekking in the area, they also grow vegetables like spinach, carrots, and cabbages.
You can witness apple garden, farms and products of apple in Namrung. There are several tea house options in Namrung with cozy and well equipped layover place. This means most of the settlements are for personal use while some of them are totally for business. The lunch spot is located at Ghap which takes about 2-2.5 hours from Bihiphedi. The path from Ghap to Namrung contains rocky terrains, traditional typical local Gurung and Sherpa villages. Barley and potato field can be seen which is cultivated for only one season. Upon reaching Namrung, settle in an accommodation place. Try local dish and apple wine, pie and other apple products during dinner. Stay overnight at Namrung.
The day begins with a fine breakfast. In this section we pass through several small villages like Lee, Sho and ultimately reaching Lho. Lee is a small village with Sherpa inhabitants. You can see local Sherpa customs and traditions here. Similarly moving past Lho for after an about 30 minutes we reach another village named Sho. Sho is also a Sherpa village. The Sherpas spend their livelihood by collecting firewood and yak dung in order to prepare for winter. After moving past Sho we walk for 40 mints to reach Lho. Lho is famous for potato production and maize and barley fields. There is also a monastery known as Lho monastery where rituals of Sherpa culture are practiced. Lho is also famous for getting the first view of Manaslu. We can even witness Yak ploughing the agricultural fields if lucky.
After Samagaon, a short day walk to Samdo village, as our morning path leads to a climb slowly towards Samdu. Actually Samdu is not too far from Samagaon can be done within few hour but due to increase in altitude with dry air makes the walk a little slower than other previous days, we need to gain the height slowly taking time and enjoying views around as the walk finally reaches in Samdu village for overnight halt and as well with rest next day.
Begin the day with breakfast at accommodation place in Samagoun.Today we trek back to Smado from Samagoun which takes about 4 hours walk. The trail now is mostly flat and you can have a close view of Samdo peak. The locals here also go for Yarshagumba hunting towards the mountain region. Samdo is also known to be the last village before Larke Pass. This place also links up Nepal with Tibet boader. Settle in accommodation place in Samdo. Enjoy lunch and dinner here. Samdu will be the last village before Larkya-la, in the earlier days, Larkya Bazaar near westward of Samdu, where Tibetans merchant and people from this region and as far lower Gorkha people use to trade and barter. At Samdo enjoy the rest day with short hike and excursion exploring this interesting village with views of snow capped peaks.
Today you will spend full day at Samdo for acclimatization to high altitude. Samdo is located on a terraced hillside on the opposite bank of the Budhi Gandaki. It is one of the remote and permanent villages in Nepal, characterized by its moderate size, comprising more than forty houses and a population of approximately 200 villagers who endure extremely harsh arctic conditions. Samdo marks the last village before reaching Larkya-la. In the earlier days, Larkya Bazaar was situated to the west of Samdo, where Tibetan merchants and people from this region, as well as those from the lower Gorkha region, used to engage in trade and barter. During your stay in Samdo, take the opportunity to enjoy a well-deserved rest day. You can go on short hikes and excursions to explore this fascinating village, all while savoring views of the surrounding snow-capped peaks.
After breakfast head towards Dharmashala from Samdo which takes about 5 hours. The uphill route increases the altitude of 600m.Upon reaching Samdo, the accommodation can be in either teahouse (only three/shared rooms/limited facility) or tent (camping) depending upon the tourist’s number in the area. This place is remote so the facilities here are pretty basic. Also, due to heavy wind and super cold weather the sleep is rather ahead. This place is suitable for photography. Dinner is at camp, or teahouse. Stay overnight at Dharmashala.
An early preparation and move at around 4’o clock in the morning towards Larke Pass. This takes about 5 hours from Dharmashala. Larke pass is an ice lake formed from Larke Peak. We will walk along snow trails which are very steep and the region is very windy. At the viewpoint of Larke Pass, we can see viewpoint of Larke peak and Punker Mountain. Afterwards we descent towards phedi at around 2 hours and further towards Bhimthan which is another 2 hours. Bhimthan is a place from which mountains of Manang region can be seen. It is a great place for photography and some greeny can be seen. Mountain range like Annapurna South which is behind the Larke Pass can be seen from Bhimthan. Dinner is served at Bhimthan.
From here onward into Manang district located on the junction of famous and popular Annapurna circuit and Manaslu trail, morning leads to a climb up to nice and large village at Dharapani and then on the main trail heading south towards warmer area following the Marsyangdi River downstream to reach at Tal for overnight stop. This is the last and ending point of Manang district and beyond towards Lamjung area.
continue a 5 hours trek towards Tal. The morning will begin with a climb up to the pleasant and sizable settlement of Dharapani, located at the junction of the famed and popular Annapurna Circuit and Manaslu path. Following the Marsyangdi River downstream from Dharapani, you will continue on the main trail heading south towards a warmer location.Lunch is served at Kharte. Moving downward for 2 hours we finally reach tal. Tal is a small village with Thatch house. There is also safe drinking water station located near the village. ACAP checkpost can be found in this place.
You'll begin your hike on a moderate path, finally descending to meet the Marsyangdi River again and arriving in Chamje hamlet. The trip will continue, passing through the lovely village of Jagat where lunch is served. Continue downhill, taking in sights of flowing waterfalls along the route. As you continue, you'll pass through more farm settlements and enter low and warm paddy field areas. You'll finally travel to the top of an impressive hill at Baundanda, which gives stunning views of the valley and hilly terrain. Baundanda will be your final overnight stay on this fantastic Manaslu and Tsum Valley Trekking excursion. Take some time to explore this Hindu ethnic community and make the most of your final day on this fantastic adventure.
you'll continue your descend to Ngadi village. You'll then follow the Marsyangdi River downstream, enjoying the scenery as you travel through farm fields and little settlements. Your journey will eventually bring you to Bhulhule, where this exciting and amazing expedition will come to an end.You'll return to Kathmandu via the huge town of Besisar, which acts as the administrative center for the Lamjung district. After a few hours, you'll reach the major Kathmandu-Pokhara highway and return to Kathmandu, following the Trisuli River for a while before ascending to the Kathmandu valley rim. Lunch is served along the Kathmandu Pokhara highway where suitable.
